Making their club debut, the Paul Stiles Quartet opened the second half of the 2003 / 2004 season. Although playing for the first time at the Pallant Suite, Paul was on tenor when the Southampton All Stars visited The Venue last April.
Playing saxophones, clarinet and flute, Paul led the band through a mixture of tunes featuring standards and some of his own compositions. His claim that the music would be 'modern, but not too modern' was an accurate reflection of what was on offer and one the eager audience had clearly come to enjoy.
Making up the quartet's rhythm section were Andy Daniels on keyboards, bassist Rick Foot and the ever-popular Andy Trim on drums.
