Around 70 members and guests who, along with a tempting menu, were treated to some very acceptable jazz performed by fellow club members, enjoyed the annual end of season supper. With Arthur Reynolds on amusing anecdotes and keyboards, the band were led up front by Mary Litchfield on saxophone and Tony Dudley playing a variety of instruments including clarinet, harmonica and EWI (electronic wind instrument). Playing through a set of popular jazz standards, the group also featured Brian Pullen on vibraphone and were supported by Havant Jazz Club regular Dave Hardman on bass and a special guest on drums. The band’s talent and conviviality helped make this a very entertaining evening in which chairman Ray Pratt thanked his committee members plus those who have volunteered help with the club through the season. With the presentation of a bouquet of flowers, Ray cast a particular vote of thanks to Maddy Boyce for her special contribution.
