On the International Day of Jazz, this year celebrated in Paris, France, it was appropriate that Dave Hewett's Condonians should pay tribute to the life, times and contemporaries of one of the music's true legends - Eddie Condon. There may have been no guitarist on the bandstand but the band's energetic front line took charge with swinging support from a driving rhythm section. Trumpeter Andy Dickens provided entertaining introductions.
Earlier, the Club had been treated to the music of two University of Chichester students. Pianist Tunde Lunan accompanying the vocals of James Sutton. A fine way to start what develeoped into a most enjoyable evening.
Condonians Line-up: Dave Hewett - trombone and baritone horn, Andy Dickens - trumpet, flugelhorn and vocals, Julian Marc Stringle - clarinet and saxophone, Tim Huskisson - piano, Andy Lawrence - bass, Rod Brown - drums.
