Last Friday 18 March, a packed Pallant Suite audience, which included many who had travelled from far afield, witnessed probably the finest guitar playing virtuosity ever presented at Chichester Jazz Club. The Remi Harris Project were in town!
With the endorsements of fellow musicians ringing in our ears, it was no surprise that the popularity of the extraordinary talents of Remi Harris were going to be in evidence. But it is seldom that expectations are realised to such a dramatic degree.
This amazing guitarist, comfortable when playing Gypsy Jazz, Blues, Swing, Bebop and lots more, expressively produced the most wonderful sounds with stunning technical brilliance. He was equally adept when explaining his knowledge of the history of the guitar and its effect on his musical career as he was in delivering the most exciting programme of guitar-led music, more than ably supported by Spanish guitar and bass.
All in all, a splendid night, climaxing with a worthy encore and the crowd yelling for more.
Line-up: Remi Harris – guitar, Caley Groves - guitar, Mike Green – bass.
