Vasilis Xenopoulos Quintet - 20 May 2016

It took more than a Friday evening accident on the busy M25, an abandoned vehicle and a rescue mission from the band's guitarist, to stop Vasilis Xenopoulos making his debut at CJC.

Playing his fiery brand of sometimes hard bop, the accomplished, likeable and informative tenor player took us through an exciting repertoire of varied material including Four Brothers and Groove Merchant.

In this company, the evening was always going to be a hit with the creative Steve Fishwick on trumpet, Nigel Price playing brilliantly on guitar, the more-than-able Gabriel Latchin depping on the Hammond organ and Matt Home playing drums.
