A capacity audience had already gathered many minutes before the scheduled start time and by the time the music was underway, many had to stand. Without doubt, the largest crowd in many seasons – possibly CJC’s biggest ever – witnessed a stellar performance by the master saxophonist – Scott Hamilton. Scott’s international CV reads like a musician’s Who’s Who from the last 50 years of modern jazz and he never failed to live up to his legendary status.
More than ably supported by his hand-picked rhythm section, who contributed many fine solos themselves on piano, bass and drums, Scott marched through a range of numbers including requests from his adoring followers.
A triumphant night that will remain vivid in the memory of those who can ask, ‘Do you remember the night Scott Hamilton came to Chichester Jazz Club?’
Line-up: Scott Hamilton – tenor saxophone, John Pearce – piano, Dave Green – bass, Steve Brown – drums.
