Who was playing ....? Lee Gibson Quintet
.... and the full line-up? Lee Gibson – Vocals, Bruce Adams – Trumpet, James Pearson – Pianist, Sam Burgess – Bass, Malcolm Mortimore – Drums.
Playing with what kind of material? A mixture of show-stopping standards.
What were your favourite numbers? 'No Moon at All' - with its thought-provoking title, this evocative melody, beautifully sung, was the perfect platform for a small combo. 'I Cant Give You Anything But Love, Baby' - hurtling along with Bruce Adams trumpet delivering Maynard Fergusson-like bursts and James Pearson's tongue-in-cheek Errol Garner impressions, the band produced its best received number of the evening.
Generally, what did the audience think? It seems everyone went home very happy.
How many were in that night? Approximately 150.
In your view, should we have the band back to play CJC and why? This was Lee Gibson’s second visit in two years and there is every reason why, after a similar period, the club should welcome her back again.
