BTDO are a typical Devonian toe-tapping traditional jazz band who interspersed their music with humour, jokes and impersonations.
The reviewer's favourite numbers were: ‘My silent love’ which included a vocal by Richard who also played a haunting trumpet solo, backed up by Russell with a delicate trombone solo, ‘Dippermouth Blues’ - Traditional Jazz at its best - and 'Irene Goodnight’, an appropriate closing number where the audience joined in on the chorus lines.
The 139-strong audience loved it, with enthusiastic hand clapping ‘on the beat’ and two or three people dancing and having a good time. They could sense that the band were having a good time and this reflected in their general reaction.
In the reviewer's opinion, they should come back to CJC in a couple of years when, once the word gets round, they would play again to a packed house.
