Brian White has been leading bands since the 1950s, when he took over the leadership of the Magna Jazz Band, which was so successful at the 2009 Oaklands Beer and Jazz Festival. The Ragtimers, co-led with cornetist Alan Gresty, was the hit of JITC 2008.

Brian’s bands were often formed to play the music associated with major jazz figures such as Muggsy Spanier, Bob Crosby, and Kid Ory. Tonight’s fine band is inspired by the music of Mezz Mezzrow and Sidney Bechet, who recorded together in the 1940s on Mezzrow’s own King Jazz record label.

The line up is: Brian White – clarinet, Goff Dubber – clarinet and soprano sax, Alan Dandy – piano, Mike Godwin – bass, Colin Miller - drums.

Guests: Ł8.00

All meetings start at 7.45pm - doors open at 6.30pm
