Karen Sharp, a CJC favourite for many years, and newcomer Robert Fowler have formed their exceptional quintet to recreate the sound of two other giants of the tenor saxophone, Al Cohn and Zoot Sims, both of whom played in The Woody Herman ĎFour Brothers Bandí and with The Count Basie Band from 1948 - 50. Karen and Robert have previously been colleagues in bands led by Humphrey Lyttelton and Alan Barnes as well as in The BBC Big Band.
The bandís debut album Brandy and Beer was widely acclaimed and is sure to appeal to all fans of mainstream and straight ahead jazz.
Joining them this evening will be Robin Aspland - piano, Jeremy Brown - bass and Matt Home - drums.
Guest admission £10
