Julie Dunnís debut album was released with some success in 2004 but she was already looking to move from world music into jazz. An introduction to pianist John Horler made the big difference. It led to regular gigs with John, initially as a duo, later in trios with musicians of the calibre of reedsman Tony Coe. Julieís much-acclaimed 2007 album Whatís It All About consisted mainly of standards, with all the music arranged by John.
With Alec Dankworth on bass, when these four musicians played for us in 2008, featuring the album, they were praised for their relaxed, friendly approach as well as their outstanding music.
