Jo Fooks studied saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music from 1995 to 1999. Her breakthrough came when she joined Humphrey Lyttelton’s band in 2006.
These days, as well as being a sought after guest musician, Jo leads her own quintet, whose CJC debut in 2010 was immensely popular. Jo’s enthusiasm and humour were a delight, as were her hard-swinging, warm-toned playing. Her colleagues were pianist Ted Beament, for many years in the Humphrey Lyttelton Band; Dave Cliff, a subtle guitarist, always popular at CJC; the sensitive bassist Val Mannix; and the tasteful Buster Birch on drums.
Full line-up: Jo Fooks - tenor sax, Ted Beament – piano, Dave Cliff – guitar, Val Mannix – bass, Buster Birch - drums.
Guest admission: £12.
All meetings start at 7.45pm - doors open at 6.30pm
