Simon Woolf, took up the bass during the final year of a music degree course at York University.

Tonight’s band reflects Simon’s interest in melodic, straight-ahead jazz, blending originals and his arrangements of jazz standards. Four of the band have already played at CJC including the ever-popular Karen Sharp. The debutant, 23-year old Robbie Harvey – as a student, winner of several trombone competitions and NYJO lead trombonist - has already appeared in several bands including the BBC Big Band, the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, and the John Dankworth - Cleo Laine group. With his own quintet he played at Ronnie Scott’s Club in March 2011.

Full line-up: Simon Woolf – bass, Karen Sharp – tenor saxophone, Robbie Harvey - trombone, James Pearson - piano, Matt Home - drums.

Guest admission: £12.

Line-up change: Since publishing the programme, Karen Sharp is unable to appear and will be now be replaced on saxophone by Olly Wilby, a regular with Ray Gelato and the Pasadena Roof Orchestra.

All meetings start at 7.45pm - doors open at 6.30pm
