Tonightís musicians first played together at Leeds College of Music. Alan Barnes moved to London in 1980 and quickly settled in. When he found that London was very cliquey, he started his own clique! Late in 1987 Dave Newton moved from Scotland and his first gig was with Alan. Their paths have crossed regularly ever since and they have cemented the kind of musical understanding that is essential to any successful duo.
But letís not forgot the music! Their two albums include, amongst others, compositions by Art Pepper, Ellington, Barney Bigard, Bechet, Goodman, Mulligan, Monk, Gershwin, Jerome Kern and Alan Barnes.
All the ingredients for a very enjoyable evening!
Guest admission: £10.
All meetings start at 7.45pm - doors open at 6.30pm
