The Surrey-based Golden Eagle Jazz Band was formed in 2008, although most of the musicians have worked together in various bands over many years. The exception is clarinettist Alan Cresswell, who unusually took a break from playing in 1963 ‘to concentrate on paying a mortgage’ and didn’t start to play again until 2003. Alan played with Max Collie’s Rhythm Aces at CJC in September 2010 and was the hit of the night.
Here, the band makes its CJC debut, with its New Orleans jazz from a powerful and melodic front line and a hard driving rhythm section.
A very enjoyable way to end the season.
