John Crawford’s love of Latin and South American music emanates from his English and Spanish parentage. His knowledge, versatility and improvisation in playing a range of Latin piano styles deeply express his affection for and appreciation of this music.
This love is in his co-authored book -‘Exploring Latin Piano’. His album, with the quintet, Ulia River of Time, is rightly described as lyrical, melodic, and ‘hugely enjoyable’.
John’s inventive arrangements are superbly supported by the quartet. The sources of and inspiration for this music draws on the variety and timbres of, among others, Chile, Brazil and Bulgaria. Hasta la vista! Hasta manana! See you there!
