Since being talent-spotted by Humphrey Lyttelton, who described her as “a brilliantly inventive player and composer” and invited her to join his band, Jo Fooks has become a tour-de-force in her own right. Her first album, ‘Here and Now’ drew plaudits from the jazz public as well as her fellow musicians.
Previous appearances at CJC have been much enjoyed by members and she has become a firm favourite.
Jo has recently had to take a rest from playing due to a bout of illness which has made it difficult to play the saxophone. However, we look forward to a fully recovered Jo and a return to her dynamic interpretation of jazz standards and sparkling originals.
MUSICIANS: Jo Fooks – tenor sax, Ted Beament – piano, Al Nichols – saxophones, Val Manix – bass, Buster Birch – drums.
All meetings start at 7.45pm - doors open at 6.30pm
