Since John Crawford’s last visit to CJC many have asked for a return - so we are delighted he will be starting off the 2017-18 Season.
Born in London of English/Spanish parents, John’s early influences were his blues piano-playing father, and his accomplished Latin-music mother. This Latin influence led to work with very many international and UK-based musicians in this field and John becoming a founder member of the popular band Grupo X.
As a jazz pianist he has played with Tony Coe, Sax Appeal, Dave O'Higgins, Tony Kofi, Roger Beaujolais, Gilad Atzmon and many more.
His impressive performance venues include the Montreal Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Getxo Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s, Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, 606 Club, and Royal Albert Hall.
John’s latest album ‘Times and Tides’ delves into his passion for Latin American and Spanish Flamenco rhythms and features original compositions and new arrangements of folk songs and music by Salif Keita and Pat Metheny.
Line-up: John Crawford – piano, Guillermo Hill - guitar, Richard Sadler - double bass, Andres Ticino - percussion, Simon Pearson - drums.
All meetings start at 7.45pm - doors open at 6.30pm
